DIRECTIONS AND TRAVEL

Westwood Lake Campground Resort is centrally located just 2 km off Highway 19, in a semi-rural area nestled on Mount Benson. Take the exit at Jingle Pot Road (in the direction away from the downtown core), take a left onto Westwood Lake Road and head to the end where you will find us on your left. To get to Westwood Lake Park from our campground simply exit our main gates and head left where you will find a parking lot and the lake.

Simply exit our main gates taking a right turn onto Westwood Lake Road, then take a right onto Jingle Pot Road. This road leads straight to downtown Nanaimo and the full journey takes approximately 10 minutes by car. 

Downtown Nanaimo is approximately 30 minutes (1-way) by bike. For bus routes you can visit the BC Transit website for Nanaimo’s bus routes and schedules. Nanaimo also has 2 taxi services including Yellow Cab Nanaimo and AC Taxi Nanaimo

WESTWOOD LAKE

Yes, you can swim in Westwood Lake. There are two beaches, one of which has a lifeguard on duty with free life jackets available. The life guard is on duty daily from 12 pm to 6 pm starting late June until early September, including Canada Day, BC Day and Labour Day.

There is a 5.5km trail that circles the entire lake and is considered an easy walking trail. For more information check out the All Trails page.

There is a whole trail network that extends outwards from Westwood Lake all the way to Mount Benson. AllTrails is a great resource for exploring all of the trails in the area.

Westwood Lake a great for all sorts of boating including kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding and more! Please note that this is an electric motor only lake.

Yes Westwood Lake is a great spot for fishing and has a reputation for catches of pan-size Rainbow Trout, Cut Throat Trout and Bass.

We don’t have a restaurant but we have a small general store with many essentials as well as a concession stand. For more details please visit our Store and Concession.

1.4km (3 min drive) from the campground there is a Liquor Store, Gas Station and Bowling Alley as well as the Jingle Pot Pub. The closest grocery stores are about a 6-10 minute drive and include a Country Grocer (6 min), a Buy Low Foods (8 min) and a Quality Foods (10 min).

Yes we have clean washrooms and coin-operated showers. Our washrooms are by key-entry and are open 24hrs (except when being cleaned). Please do not leave children unattended in washrooms. Our washrooms are a pet and smoke free area. 

Yes, we have an on-site laundromat available – please check posted hours. All machines require loonies and laundry detergent can be purchased at the campground’s store. Please do not overload the machines with detergent. Do not leave your children unsupervised and the laundromat is a smoke and pet free area. 

Yes Wifi is free for all short-term stays.

RV and Tent Camping Sites: There is a 7 day cancellation policy. If you cancel within 7 days before arrival, then you will be charged 100% for the entire stay that was reserved. If you provide more than 7 days notice, there will be a 100% refund, minus the reservation fee. If you are staying in a extended stay site, there will be no refunds on daily RV Reservations.

Cabin/Cottage/Tiny Home Rentals: If you cancel within 30 days, you will be charged 100% of the cost for the entire stay that was reserved. Cancellations more than 30 days in advance are eligible for 100% refund (minus the one night booking fee).

Our gates close at 11:00 pm and re-open at 6:00 am.

If You Don’t Have a Reservation: You can phone the office to see what is available. (You cannot stay without pre-approval by Westwood Lake Campground)

If You Have a Reservation: Please follow your reservation procedure to pick up your package at the office

Pets are welcome in our campground (with pre-approval). To ensure a clean and enjoyable environment for all guests, we kindly request for you to follow the following rules for your pets:

  • Keep your pet leashed at all times.
  • Pets are not permitted in any buildings on the campsite, including cabins and the cottage.
  • Clean up after your pet. Not following this rule will result in a $25 fine. 
  • Don’t allow your pet to make excessive noise.
  • Vicious dogs are not allowed on our premise.
  • Don’t leave your pet unattended.

Fires are only permitted in fire pits provided, and please do not move them. To ensure the safety of all our guests, the following rules apply for having fires:

  • Never leave fires unattended (this means when you go to bed as well).
  • Extinguish fires with water.
  • The size of fire must stay within the rim provided (16 inch fire wood max lengths).
  • Please, DO NOT MOVE THEM.
  • Clean & Dry fire wood is the only wood that can be burned (No painted or treated wood).
  • Garbage is not to be burnt in fire pits, the ashes are composted.
  • Do not leave garbage in pits upon departure.
  • Mobile firepits are available at the office for the sites that do not have one.

Fire wood is available for purchase at our office during office hours

All visitors need to be registered at the office ahead of time. A guest fee will apply.  Guests must leave by 10:00pm – this is our quiet time and excessive noise is not tolerated after this time. 

Parking inside the campground is limited so all visitors are welcome to park outside the gates along the street or in the large parking lot at the park next door.

Unlicensed vehicles are not allowed inside the campground. 

Unregistered guests will be towed at the owner’s expense by Mid island Towing (Phone: 250-758-1728)

The garbage, recycling and sani-dump are located at the front of the campground. A campground map is available on our facilities page. Please, help us recycle by placing your waste in the correct bins that we provide. Sani-Dump Station Rates are posted.

No smoking in any buildings in the campground or in the cabin as posted.
Please, do not throw butts on ground (cigarette butts are regarded as garbage)
